Journalist, Recent Grad
I'm a recent graduate of the Columbia School of Journalism and journalist with 3 years experience including print, digital, audio and photo. I seek to take an investigative approach to each story I write, whether it's 800 words or an investigative project, using data and public records to build my case. In other words, I leave no stone unturned. My bylines include Observer Media, Her Campus, Horse Illustrated, I Love The Upper West Side Blog, The Midtown Gazette, BostonChefs.com and The Tufts Daily. I specialize in local news, education, business and culture. Currently, I'm a National Writer for Her Campus, where I write content across all verticals including breaking news, mental health and relationships. Occasionally I’ll dabble in the creative sphere, publishing personal essays and (just a smidge of) poetry. Contact: [email protected]
Writer & Editor
My three favorite things are baseball, writing, and editing. I've been a baseball fan since I was nine years old, and I have turned that enthusiasm into a full-time role as a Homepage Editor for Major League Baseball. When I'm not editing stories and webpages for MLB.com, here's some other projects I have going on: • I am a newsletter editor for the Internet Baseball Writers' Association of America. • I co-host a Mets and MLB-focused podcast, Cohen's Corner. With my work, I aim to inspire other sports fans to find their voice and express themselves confidently. My writing has been published by MLB.com, the Baseball Hall of Fame, The Twin Bill, Rising Apple, and Girl at the Game. I graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with majors in Marketing and Management, a concentration in Advertising and Digital Media, and a minor in English. If you need a hand in any of the following areas, I would love to help: • Copy editing (short and long-form work) • Fact-checking • Any kind of writing (articles, blurbs, blogs, headlines, etc.) • SEO strategy • College essays You can reach me at [email protected] or via the contact link below.
I provide thoughtfully crafted, entertaining content that will connect you with your audience. Through writing that reflects your tone and personality, I'll maintain your brand integrity. Readability and SEO strategies are important to me. I always offer edits to ensure you are 100% satisfied with the product. I've written hundreds of presentations, procedure manuals, and professional documents over my 22-year military career. Since then I've written for volunteer organizations and am a regular contributor to Medium. I look forward to exceeding your expectations!

Multimedia Journalist, Editor, Writer
Hello! My name is Nikki Haslett and I'm a recent first-generation honors graduate from West Chester University of Pennsylvania. While obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in English writing and a minor in journalism, I have taken on a variety of thoughtful, interesting, and engaging topics during my college career; I was the first staff member to write on WCU's decision to move to remote instruction during the initial COVID-19 lockdown, interviewed local clothing sellers for a fashion magazine I created in my journalism practicum, and reported on the possible threats to Roe v. Wade and reproductive healthcare resources under SCOTUS Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Aside from my experience in copyediting, research and news writing under ethical standards, I've worked with multimedia tools to tell stories in other ways, such as Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Audition, Canva and Premiere. As a result, I gained both in-person and digital newsroom experience, having published 30+ articles under Her Campus and The Quad Student News Service. In 2020, I was nominated for the Keystone Press Award for an article I co-wrote, titled “Local Universities Face Mass Faculty Layoffs,” and received public recognition by the senior editors and executive board of Her Campus at West Chester for my piece on the Farmers' Protest in New Delhi. I am currently seeking editorial opportunities for digital/print publications. Feel free to email or message me and thank you for taking a chance to read my work!
Freelance Writer - health, parenting, personal finance and more
I'm an award-winning writer and a former newspaper reporter with more than 20 years of experience writing for some of the nation's top consumer publications. I have a special interest in writing about health, parenting and personal finance, but editors also turn to me when they need someone who can dig deep for surprising insight or advice on any subject. My national credits include: Reader’s Digest, Parents, Real Simple, Prevention, Dr. Oz The Good Life, Parenting, AARP, More, CreditCards.com, The Washington Post and The New York Times. As a long-time contributing editor at Reader’s Digest, I authored dozens of so-called “secrets” stories covering subjects ranging from airline pilots to convicted burglars. Two favorites: “50 secrets a surgeon won’t tell you” and “50 secrets a waiter won’t tell you.” I also write regularly for several Scholastic classroom magazines and for Wells Fargo's consumer-facing publications. Other corporate clients have included TIAA, Fidelity, Brighthouse Financial, USAA, Honda, WalMart and Harris Teeter.
With more than a decade of experience writing for a variety of mediums, including newspapers, trade journals, marketing materials and web copy, I adapt to any writing style or topic quickly. My work in journalism, corporate communications and nonprofit organizations has given me the chance to write everything from articles on police news to in-depth features. I’ve crafted press releases to publicize both nonprofit fundraising events, the results of complex medical studies and many topics in between. I'm comfortable writing about just about any topic, with specific experience in health care, insurance, education, local government and the hospitality industry. I excel at taking complex information, breaking it down and creating engaging and accessible content. Specialties: - Email marketing/newsletters - Website content creation - Press releases - Marketing collateral - News and feature articles - Proofreading and editing - Ghostwriting - Social media
