Athletic Trainer turned Sports Journalist
Thanks for checking out my work. I m a recent graduate from UNC-Chapel Hill. I spent my college years majoring in Exercise and Sport Science with the goal of becoming a Certified Athletic Trainer. Athletic training provided unique insight behind the curtain in the world athletes live. For the past four years, I’ve spent my time assessing and treating injured athletes. Unlike many people, I got to see a behind the scenes look into the day to day struggle to stay healthy and compete, the hours upon hours of practice, meeting room film sessions, and intense workouts in the weight room with the strength and conditioning staff. I’m thankful for the foundation I’ve gained; however, I do not want to spend the entirety of my career assessing and treating athletes, I want to tell their stories. The challenges listed above are what make athletics special and I want to chronicle those experiences. In the clips below I hope you can gain a sense of my writing style. I’ve included clips from my two previous desks with a mix of long and short-form pieces.

Always having an eye for fashion and aspirations of becoming an entertainment publicist. I would loan my talents to new and upcoming artist. Helping them establish their brand and image. My creative projects and strong work ethics caught the eyes of several of my professors at F.I.T. In 2014, and I was offered the invitation to join and work for a team during New York Fashion Week as a Dresser and Stylist ongoing. Determination and sacrifice allowed her to expand her portfolio to working with 23 designers and 31 shows. Some of the designers she has worked with include: Nicholas K, Desigual, Todd Snyder, Kate Spade, Rebecca Minkoff, August Getty, Noon by Noor, Naomi Campbell, Porsche Design, Pamella Rolland, Vivienne Tam, Badgley Mischka, Michael Costello, Oscar de la Renta, Marchesa, Rachel Zoe, Sophie Theallet, Lacoste, Altuzarra, Tracy Reese, Prabal Gurung and Gabriela Cadena. The brands I have developed derived from my personal experience with loss and adversities. On December 21, 2012, I lost my home and everything I owned due to a fire. After that tragedy, Iwas forced to start life over from scratch. I learned how to re-strategize and change every aspect of my life and perspective. In order to move forward and rebuild my life from that adversity with confidence. I epitomize the fire as the fuel that was lit under me to go after my dreams and stop procrastinating. Recently I started the "Break the Mold Movement" and apparel line. Consisting of self-motivating attire derive from my personal sayings and quotes. It is her mission to help others "Conquer Adversities with Style."

Freelance Writer and Editor
I am a freelance writer and editor with over fifteen years of experience. I have recently returned to the United States after living in China for fifteen years, and much of my writing has to do with China and China-adjacent topics, although I also write on education, the arts, travel, books, culture, politics, parenting and language, and am co-writer at the blog Prentice Pieces. I have taught high school English and history in both China and the United States, and am a parent to two children who were born and attended elementary school in China. Thus, I am particularly interested in the differences between the educational systems in China and the United States. I also enjoy writing about China's non-Han ethnic groups, having spent the majority of my time in China in Yunnan province, where many of China's ethnic minority groups also live. As an editor, I specialize in academic editing, including research, dissertations, admissions essays, academic journals, and books.
