I am a Scottish based writer, Comms professional and third sector leader. I'm passionate about journalism and writing on social justice and self-improvement. My interests are in mental health, social justice, equalities, men's isssues, LGBTQ+, self-development, and the third sector. Most recently I have authored 'The Janets' a coming of age short story set in the mid-90s which has appeared in a 'Writing Our Space - An LGBTQ+ Anthology' published by Arkbound. I am an experienced book reviewer. I also write features about people and organisations who do inspiring work in the charity/communities sector. Having built a successful career in over the last 20-years in the public and third sectors, working in both London and Scotland, I have developed my writing portfolio over the years. As an avid lifelong learner, I completed a postgraduate in journalism and a qualification in counselling all whilst working full-time. Most recently, I completed my my ICF Accredited Diploma in Transformational Coaching with the Animas Centre in London. I am also Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Arkbound Foundation, a UK-based charity that is running innovative projects to break down barriers into book publishing. Be in touch! I am an award-winning reporter at New Scientist, the world’s leading science and technology magazine and website. Before that, I wrote for a doctor's weekly newspaper called Hospital Doctor, and a newsletter for the pharmaceutical industry, called Scrip. At New Scientist, I report on everything life-science-related, from Ageing to Zika.
