Tasmin Waby

Writer | Editor

Born in London to New Zealander parents, I grew up in New York, Sydney and then Melbourne, Australia. Today I have whānau around the world - a blessing even if I don't know where to call home. A travel writer and editor I also trained to teach English (ask me anything about phrasal verbs). During the 2020 lockdown I also co-produced a travel podcast, "This Place, This Story" (still available on Spotify, Audible and Apple podcasts). When not away on an assignment, I spend my days tinkering on a canal boat while raising two kids and a fat Russian Blue cat called, Milly.

Adam Quarshie

Freelance Writer | Arts & Culture Journalist

I’m a freelance writer based in Bristol, UK. If there's a theme that ties all of my work together, it might be 'alternate worlds' or 'hidden narratives'. I'm fascinated by the different ways we make sense of the world and what stories we tell about it, whether through music, art, culture or politics. Much of my work has been in music and culture journalism - I’m interested in music at the experimental fringes, weird electronic sounds and variants of sound system culture, often viewed through a historical/political lens. I also write on social and political issues. I'm drawn to topics such as migration, diaspora, identity and belonging, mental health, and our relationship with the natural world. Alongside my journalistic work, I've worked in digital communications roles for clients in the non-profit sector, including trade unions and community organisations. I've done everything from web content and copywriting to video scripting, blog editing and newsletter campaigns.
