Article Writer and Blogger
Louise Pool is an avid writer with a truly cross-cultural background. Born in Japan to Seychellois/Swiss parents, she attended an international school for six years, before continuing her education in Switzerland. Louise has a natural affinity for languages, but is most comfortable writing in her native language English. Louise is an experienced writer in many different fields. She has written both witty and informative magazine articles and blog posts as well as sizzling sales copy. She worked in the pharmaceutical field for several years and has copy edited and translated several medical research papers, so she is more than familiar with medical terminology. She writes amusing and informative posts on her personal blog Island Wench and is never stuck for ideas. Louise has a strong dislike for anything canned, be it canned writing or canned peas. She does, however, make an exception for tuna.

Writer & Editor
Currently working as a copy editor for a cybersecurity company, I have a bachelor's degree in magazine journalism from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Since graduating in 2013, I've held positions as a copy editor for a local newspaper in Chautauqua, N.Y., as a staff writer for a newspaper in Montgomery County, P.A., and as an editorial aide for Prevention Magazine. I also have experience writing and editing for regional, general interest, and health publications. I'm a big fan of AP Style, grammar, and Oxford commas.

Writer | Coffee Fiend
My story so far. I went into debt to earn an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of New Hampshire in 2011. It was worth every penny. Since then I've worked as a freelance writer covering arts, culture, food and travel for a number of different publications, like Austin Monthly, Atlas Obscura, Dispatch Magazine (RIP) and more. I also live the #adlife as a creative senior copywriter developing campaigns for just about every type of brand you can name. Go for it. There’s a lot. On top of that, and working on a novel, I’m also a co-producer for the Here’s What I’ve Heard podcast. Season 1 is out now! I’m inspired by a lot of art and photography, especially when it’s my wife's. If I'm not writing, I'm probably changing my newborn son's diapers or cuddling him, getting chased by our Great Pyrenees, reading, eating, or trying to take a nap. Below is a (very) small, possibly outdated by the time you read this, sample of my writing as a journalist and copywriter.
