Kelley Guiney

Technical writer, wordsmith, project manager

My passion for writing translates to the page, inspiring my audience and colleagues. I bring decades of technical, marketing and feature writing, interviewing, investigative journalism and project management experience and a high level of creativity and attention to detail to my work. My credits include developing content for multiple award-winning websites such as Seattle's music museum Experience Music Project and the PBS companion website to the Martin Scorsese film series The Blues. My technical writing experience includes Microsoft marketing, support, how-to and privacy content for a variety of products, including Windows 10, Office, Outlook.com, Skype, Azure, Surface and hardware troubleshooting. I recently wrote and project managed international privacy regulatory content to document compliance with the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). (These documents are known as Data Protection Impact Assessments, or DPIAs.) I also wrote and managed the publishing process for the privacy disclosure articles for the original release of Windows 10. I have extensive XML publishing and CMS experience and recently added markdown and Github to my publishing repertoire. In my current role I work with engineers and product managers to create and improve Azure web troubleshooting and self-help content. I also serve as our team's QA specialist, performing a final review of content before it goes live. For several years I was MSN and Bing's #1 freelance writer in the country, developing concise, compelling feature content to host ads for global brands; our clients included Lexus, Toyota, Hummer, Ford, Benadryl and Kraft. I also served as managing editor for a website partnership between MSN and Dove as part of Dove's Campaign for Real Beauty. In this role I managed six writers on a three-week publishing schedule for original content in the US and repurposed content for markets in Mexico, Canada and Brazil. When MSN's Creative Director handed me the Dove managing editor project he said, "You work SO HARD. Everything you turn in is the absolute best possible quality it can be. You're so much more than a writer." You can reach me at 425-259-0526 or [email protected]
