Hello! I'm a producer and journalist, living in Toronto. My work has appeared on NPR, CBC, and Science Friday, where I was the senior producer in charge of narrative podcasts. I have occasionally created content through writing, songwriting, photography and later video production for over half a century. I am currently focused on writing short pieces of creative and investigative non-fiction and some fiction. A few of my articles and stories have been published in local periodicals. I have posted stories on the writing sites Wattpad, Medium & Substack as G.G. Niemi. For over five decades, I have been involved in music as a drummer, songwriter, publisher & promoter- most notably in association with Rhythm Cat Records. I have been a member of SOCAN (Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) since 1988. I have added a video that I produced of a song I co-wrote called "Let's All Stand-A Song for Canada". I also enjoy photography. Some of my photos. have been published on sites such as BruceGreySimcoe and the Globe and Mail. For over thirty years, I spent my spare time working in the Community Support Sector initially as a Social Worker and then for the majority of my career as a Supervisor of programs such as Meals on Wheels. The last clipping in my portfolio, "Glenn Niemi's Story" was written by the Easter Seals Ontario comms. team after interviewing me. CRIMES OF DISRESPECT, my novel based loosely on land-claim protests at the Six Nations reserve, came out in 2020. I spent the previous decade honing my craft by writing literary short stories. For example, "Paper Icon" appears in the book POLISH(ED): POLAND ROOTED IN CANADIAN FICTION, 2017, by Guernica Editions, Toronto. The literary journals GREAT LAKES REVIEW (Toronto/Chicago), POSTSCRIPTS TO DARKNESS (Ottawa), and OTHER VOICES (Edmonton) have also published my short fiction. In the Late Cretaceous period (the 1980s), I studied architecture at UBC, Vancouver, and completed a master's in environmental studies at York University, Toronto, in 1994. I worked in both fields before turning to writing. Currently, I'm based in Kingston, Ontario.
