She later moved to a lectureship position at the University of Chester, teaching immunology as well as initiating a research project examining the immunology of pregnancy and breast milk. Freelance Copywriter & Editor
I’m a freelance copywriter and editor with over 10 years’ experience writing for some of the UK’s biggest retailers, luxury fashion houses and tech startups. After training as a journalist, I took a (slightly) different career path and joined the in-house team at Selfridges and more recently shopping platform Lyst as Copywriting Director. Since taking the leap into the freelancing world, I’ve written for brands big and small, covering everything from Premier League merchandise and women’s footwear, to baby strollers and travel guides for far-flung destinations. Whether it’s SEO-optimised product copy, headers for PLPs or valuable blog articles you’re after, my goal is to deliver compelling content tailored to your business needs. Aside from being great with words and geeking out over grammar and punctuation, I’m also adept at managing large-scale content projects and developing brand tone of voice, too.

Freelancer
I am Philip Thomas. The greatest blessing in my life is that I have always known what I wanted to do: Write. To achieve my goal I studied 'English and Creative Writing' at Manchester Metropolitan University, achieving a 2:1. While I have worked in a number of industries, I have little relevant professional work experience. However, I have valuable experience's such as having presented my work to professionals: Joff Brown, Editor at Welbeck Publishing, Tom Bonnick, Editor at Nosy Crow and Ian Morris - Illustrator and writer. The work I presented was a fully written and story-boarded picture book with a profile detailing the target market, prospective publisher and illustrator. Furthermore, I completed the Hachette run 'Business of Publishing' course with certificate of completion. I work as a freelance editor on Fiverr to gain useful experience and I have enjoyed paid work from editing. My writing experience is broad, I have written extracts or in some cases complete drafts of: screenplays, scripts, short stories, novels, video game narratives, Children's picture books and poetry. As a hobby I create video essay scripts, analysing story in films and video games. It is a passion of mine to examine and break down a story and offer a critique. I have a goal: my dream job is to be the show runner for Doctor Who which I am determined to achieve because I am passionate and enthusiastic without end when it comes to writing. I enjoy writing everything and I enjoy editing too so if you need a versatile, hardworking and passionate writer, my C.V. is linked here, get in touch and I look forward to working with you.

Freelance journalist, writer, and editor
I'm a disabled writer, journalist, and editor based in the UK. My non-fiction is focused on health, disability, and politics, and its intersections in art and entertainment. I've had by-lines in The Establishment, The Ecologist, The Metro and The Guardian — among others — and anthology essays published by places like Monstrous Regiment Publishing, and in Hachette's "Letters from Lockdown" collection. As of March 2023 I write a regular column for The Unwritten. Unruly Bodies; Remarkable Lives focuses on forgotten disabled figures from history and publishes monthly. My fiction often runs towards the speculative, horror, and so-called "weird fic", and can be found in a number of magazines and anthologies, including Disturbing the Body by Boudicca Press, Strix Magazine, and many more.
