David J. Pollard

Journalist

I am the second of 4 children in a South Boston family. I was born and raised in Southie, and attended high school at Boston Latin School. Through my childhood and high school, I played a variety of sports, including baseball, soccer, and my favorite, hockey. I was the starting goaltender for Boston Latin's Varsity Hockey team from 2006-2008, and was a member of the only team in the school's 370+ year history to win a Div. II State Championship (as a third string in 2004-2005). After high school I attended college at Suffolk University, where I earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism. While wrapping up school I worked as a valet for VPNE Parking Solutions while networking in an effort to create a path to my future as a writer. I interned at 98.5 The Sports Hub for 2 years, and during my time there, I also worked for the NHL Network logging audio files, and wrote for ESPNBoston.com covering high school hockey, in fact covering the very teams I used to play against when I played at Boston Latin. Now, I'm doing the same for the Boston Herald, covering a range of high school sports. I am also working for South Boston Today, a local paper where I cover hard news, human interests and local event stories, as well as sports. I am also a co-host and producer for the sports talk radio show "The Sports Blast" which airs every Saturday from 11AM-2PM on ESPN New Hampshire, 900AM Nashua, 1250AM Manchester, ESPNRadio.com, and the ESPN Radio App. I am laying down a lot of framework and will hopefully find a way to break through in an industry I'm am highly motivated to become a part of. If there's something I know about myself, when I want something I don't stop until I get it - that's my approach to pursuing this career. To help you navigate through this portfolio: My Sports Articles are at the top, my REEL is below the Sports Articles, my audio (Sound and rejoiners created for "The Sports Blast") is at the bottom of the page.

Lastly, AP Style notwithstanding, I'm a fan of the Oxford Comma, which you'll notice I used in the first sentence of this paragraph. Core specialties: Writing, editing, and content management.
