Gardai manning flat complex as attacks and intimidation hit 'breaking point'

Gardai have set up camp in an inner-city flat complex as tensions rise over anti-social behaviour as well as a separate drugs issue. Thugs attacking and intimidating residents, as well as one report of a pair having sex on the stairwell, has led to a huge influx of gardai into Pearse House.

Giant rats "the size of cats" run rampant 'out playing with kids' near flats

People living in a block of flats are being plagued by an infestation of rats "the size of cats" running amok where children play. Locals in Queen Street, Dublin, have started laying traps themselves after growing concerned the rodents were the cause of a nasty bug that has spread round the children.

Data leak probe after woman who had abortion in Dublin hospital gets vile calls

A woman has received vile abuse from a pro-life activist who managed to obtain her personal details after she had an abortion. Calls for a full garda investigation are underway after the women was contacted by a man who asked her to go for a scan at an address in the north inner city before screaming at her for questioning his authenticity.

Dublin Bus driver 'threatens to call gardai' on woman in chicken nugget row

A bus driver allegedly threatened to call gardai after a stand-off with a passenger over chicken nuggets. The bizarre clash happened on a Dublin Bus near Tallaght on Tuesday. It's understood the driver took issue with the young black woman bringing the McDonald's treat on to the bus, Dublin Live reports.

Injured Liverpool fan Sean Cox transferred home to Irish hospital

Sean Cox is back in Ireland but remains in a critical condition as family members support him by his new bedside in Beaumont Hospital. The beloved dad-of-three was brought back to Dublin on Saturday while at the same time his GAA club in Dunboyne were flying the Liverpool flag to thank them for their continued support.

Fears ISIS fighters could be planning return to Ireland

Up to 20 Islamic State fighters may be looking to return to Ireland since the terror's group's collapse in Syria and Iraq, the Department of Justice has said. Officials estimate about 25 people travelled from Ireland to fight with the group since 2011 but five were killed in action.

Irish mums' fury after autistic boys turned down for school place

Two autistic boys have no school to go to next month as there are not enough places available, their mums revealed yesterday. Friends Ayisha Marsh and Linda Hansard's sons have finished junior school at Scoil Bhride in Donaghmede, North Dublin, and they have unsuccessfully tried to get them into third class at a new location.

Somalian blogger named Mobile Journalist of the Year

A Somalian blogger has picked up The Thomson Foundation's Mobile Journalist of the Year Award after her video highlighting the poor treatment of refugees in Malta beat over 80 entries to win the annual competition. Farah Abdi's video, which was filmed on an iPhone 5s, drew attention to the poor living conditions refugees in Malta were being subjected to.
