I am a senior at Mount Mary University, majoring in English with a concentration in Writing for New Media. I will be graduating in December 2020. I am the editor-in-chief of Mount Mary's student publication, archesnews.com. I was an intern at The Waukesha Freeman, a daily newspaper for Waukesha County. I am currently interning for The Shepherd Express. I have experience as a reporter, editor and photographer.
Dr. Lia Knox grew up in an impoverished area on the North Side of Milwaukee; however, as a child, she didn't realize she was poor. The strongest woman she knows is her mother who raised her and her younger brother. "No matter what I wanted to do, she would support me," Knox says of her mother.

It's 3 on a Saturday, and Becky Jo has to start her 2-hour process of getting ready for Hamburger Mary's weekly "Dining With the Divas." Hamburger Mary's is a restaurant in Milwaukee with drag shows almost daily. Becky's the newest to the drag scene out of other queens at Mary's, performing 5 times a week, Wednesday through Saturday.
Three years ago, Megan McGiverin sat on a bus full of other fashion design students on her way to Chicago. As a freshman at Mount Mary University, she was excited for this school trip with other girls in her major. That’s when she received a call from the financial aid office.
Ten years ago, Christmas was loud, organized chaos for Nohemy (whose name has been changed to protect her identity). The aroma of pozoles, quesados and homemade tortillas filled her grandma's two-bedroom duplex. She remembers being a 10-year-old surrounded by the people she loved and the delicious food, laughter and Christmas presents.
