Lisa Liu Grady is a seasoned freelance writer with a passion for storytelling. Her personal essays have been featured in national publications, including The New York Times, The Christian Science Monitor, The San Francisco Chronicle, The San Francisco Examiner, and broadcast on KQED Public Radio (NPR member station, SF Bay Area). She is also a contributor to the anthology, Chinatown Dreams: The Life and Photographs of George Lee.
Before embarking on her writing career, Lisa served as a merchant marine officer. She sailed as both a licensed navigation and cargo officer on board oil tankers. Lisa is also a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve.
She holds a BS in Marine Transportation from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY, and an MFA in Creative Writing and English from Mills College in Oakland, CA.
Now based in the Bay Area, Lisa continues to write, sharing her perspective on everyday moments, both big and small.
