Kinsale Hueston is the 2017-2018 National Student Poet for the West, the winner of two National Scholastic Art & Writing Gold Medals, and the Yale Young Native Storytellers Award for Spoken Word/Storytelling. An enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, Kinsale focuses her work mainly on modern issues facing her tribe, including violence against women, the loss of native languages, exploitation of resources, and racial prejudice.
She was one of four students in the U.S. to present creative works at the Young Native Storytellers Festival last weekend on the campus of Yale University.
