Brexit at core of Budget 2020 as carbon tax rises and Xmas Bonus restored

FINANCE Minister Paschal Donohoe has announced this year's Budget in the Dail this afternoon with hikes in carbon tax, cigarettes and a large allocation for the event of a no-deal Brexit. Today's Budget also saw a increase in some social welfare allowances as well as unprecedented levels of investment in healthcare, education and housing.

Cork woman tells of 'frightening' encounter with 'predator' on walk home

A YOUNG woman has come forward to tell of her "frightening" encounter with a "strange" man following an evening out. Nicole Ryan, from Cork, explained that her and a friend were walking home from town on Barrack Street at around 1am on June 2, when they noticed a man walking behind them.

Emma Mhic Mhathuna's family remember her as 'strong and courageous lady'

EMMA Mhic Mhathuna's family today remembered her as a "strong and courageous lady" on the first anniversary of her death. The mum-of-five was diagnosed with cervical cancer back in 2016 and was one of 221 women who was given the wrong smear test results by CervicalCheck screening programme.
