What began as volunteer work for co-founders Michele Dudley and Celeste Bundy has morphed into a movement. The Dilworth-based nonprofit sells six gorgeous jewelry and accessory collections handcrafted by oppressed women artisans in Charlotte and abroad.

Calling Smash Adams, Dr. Klotzenstein and The Beets! If these names ring a bell, then you're well-versed with Nickelodeon's classic cartoon, "Doug." The show was one of three original Nicktoons (along with "Rugrats" and the "Ren & Stimpy Show") to air in the '90s and enjoyed a successful three seasons from 1991 to 1994.

Mental diagnostic manual drops Asperger's syndrome as a separate mental disorder

"Asperger's syndrome" is dropped as a separate diagnosis in the first major rewrite in almost two decades of the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Previously, Asperger's was defined as a separate disorder from autism in the psychiatric tome. As a result of the changes, the Asperger's diagnosis will be placed under "autism spectrum disorder."
