Dan Fappiano has been writing about sports since high school and has been an avid sports fan since fourth grade. He has experience covering both professional and high school sports both in print and online. Dan also has experience in page layout with InDesign. Now, Dan is looking for his next opportunity in the sports journalism landscape.

After being cut from the North Branford volleyball squad as a freshman, Jenna Gall came up with a plan to get on assistant coach Jacob Sweet's good side. At the time, Sweet was also head coach of North Branford's Ultimate Frisbee team, and Gall thought that she could show him the type of athlete and teammate she is by joining the program.
It wasn't until 12:30 a.m. that the 12-14 novice tap team from All That Jazz Dance Studio got to perform its Footloose routine at the 2021 World Dance Championship. They performed it again at 1 a.m.
For 41 years, Cathy McGuirk served as the head coach of Branford High School field hockey team, mentoring hundreds of female athletes along the way. Now, many of those athletes are supporting McGuirk as she faces the biggest challenge of her life Earlier this year, McGuirk was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
For the past 13 years, Anthony Russell has helped the East Haven girls' basketball team rise to tremendous heights while serving as the team's head coach. Now, following a run in which he won 181 games, claimed a Class M state title, and experienced a myriad of memories, Russell has stepped down from his post as the Yellowjackets' coach.
Cardinals Take the Title by Defeating the Giants Eight teams battled it out to become this year's Deep River Horseshoe League (DRHL) champion when the league recently hosted its Playoff Tournament. In the end, the Cardinals came out victorious in what proved another exciting edition of the DRHL postseason.
Between football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse, and track and field, Nico Ragaini's life has been highlighted by playing sports. But above any other sport, football has reigned supreme for Ragaini. The East Haven resident has taken that passion for football and, through tremendous dedication, become a starting wide receiver at the University of Iowa.
For the town of North Haven, the football team's annual Spring Brawl fundraiser has become a way for people in the community to give back to someone in need. This year, while pushing through numerous obstacles, North Haven succeeded in its goal by raising nearly $20,000 to support three year-old Nate Gagne.
Legendary Skipper Won 937 Games and 5 State Titles, Impacted Thousands When you think of baseball in North Haven, you think of Bob DeMayo. It's hard not to considering that he served as the head coach of North Haven High School baseball team for the past 64 years.
