Lansdale Public Library to host Drag Queen Story Hour

LANSDALE - Children who attend the story hour at Lansdale Public Library at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 2 will still enjoy listening to books read aloud, a coloring activity and parent-provided snacks, but the host will be a first-ever for the library - drag queen Annie Christ will be their hostess.

Lansdale-area residents raise their voices for change in Bangladesh

LANSDALE - As the Bangladesh government continues its crackdown on news and protests in the wake of two students' traffic deaths, Lansdale area residents rallied Tuesday to protest the human rights violations and advocate for road safety in Bangladesh. "We want the world to hear our voices," said Adiba Ahmed, a Lansdale resident who helped organize Tuesday's local protest.

Lansdale honors Richard Stricker for lifetime of service

LANSDALE >> Former colleagues, family and friends remembered beloved Lansdale resident Richard "Dick" Stricker as he was named the first-ever posthumous recipient of Lansdale Borough's Lifetime Achievement Award on Founders Day, Saturday morning. "He was a unique personality and character in a borough that has many," Lansdale Historical Society officer Dick Shearer said during his remarks about Stricker.

On another night, in years past, Brendan Murray and his football team of brothers would have taken to the field as his friends, classmates and family members watched from the packed home bleachers. The stadium would have been filled with screams as the crowd cheered the team onto victory.

Skippack garage destroyed by morning fire

An early morning blaze destroyed a Skippack home's detached, three-bay garage, Tuesday, June 5. The cause is still under investigation -- although it was not deemed suspicious -- and no one suffered any injuries, said Skippack Fire Chief Haydn Marriott IV.

Shop, Rock and Roll on Skippack's First Friday

Skippack residents and visitors shopped the stores, dined outdoors and bopped to the rhythms of several different bands dotting the village along Skippack Pike/Route 73 during the monthly First Friday event. Artwork and handmade crafts adorned the sidewalks and tabletops and admirers viewed the classic cars parked on the lawns and lots.
