Is it normal to get more set in your ways as you age?

Some people just have it!
There are many types of empaths, some who lack self-esteem and others who have it in spades.
Self-esteem is a tricky thing... Arguably, it is the most vital thing to help us build healthy relationships, rewarding careers, and fulfilling lives in general. But it's also incredibly mysterious. Often, we can be struggling with extremely low levels of self-esteem and not even be aware of it!
Indications of low self-esteem leaks out of people in many ways. Through our posture, self-care, lifestyle choices, and even our facial expressions. And also, through our words. When [...] More
Who doesn't like people watching? I could spend hours sitting outside a cafe or on a park bench, watching people go about their day. Even when they can't be heard, it's not difficult to get a sense of whether they are happy, nervous, frustrated, or loved up.
Emotional maturity is vital for healthy relationships and general wellbeing.
A parent's first impulse is to do whatever they can to protect their child. However, some parents take this compulsion too far and exercise too much control, protection, and general involvement in their adolescent child's life. This is what is termed as overparenting or helicopter parenting; it means micromanaging every aspect of a kid's life ...
You've just met someone you think is awesome... there aren't many feelings that can top that! But maybe previous heartbreaks and betrayals have left you cynical about love. And perhaps [...] More
Are you in a position where you're caring for others?

A happy woman is like a force of nature. She embodies serenity, radiates joy and love, and gives life to those around her. And an unhappy woman has the power to do the opposite. So, what are the signs that a woman is unhappy, especially if she conceals her feeling of discontentment?
The expressions of love shown in TV shows, movies, or on social media are not always real-world accurate.
We all know someone who is genuinely awesome. Think about them for a moment.
Imagine a guy with low self-esteem. What does he look like? How does he hold himself? How does he interact with others? Sure, there are obvious signs of insecurity, but also some obscure signs too. In fact, some behaviors are designed to conceal low self-worth and give a phony impression of confidence.
Are you able to celebrate your wins? How do you feel when you are praised for achieving something difficult and specialized? When we see someone slaying it in life, we [...] More

Intelligent people tend to choose their words carefully.
The desires and motivations of introverted people may be mysterious to some, but in fact, they are quite straightforward. While being high profile, getting lots of attention, and having a dizzying [...] More
Is there anything as fabulous as a truly confident woman? And I'm not talking about the type of female 'confidence' that gets so much traction online and through media. Confident women are frequently put into categories based on jaded stereotypes like the sexy girl, the ambitious and successful career woman, and the altruistic feminist.
Words are powerful. They are the greatest insight we get into the minds of others. They portray a person's way of viewing the world, their values, biases, hangups, motivations, and their refinement. In fact, nothing communicates class and sophistication, or a lack thereof, quite like what people say, and how they say it.
Ever been described as "too sensitive"?
Wondering if you are or ever have been in the clutches of a narcissist?
If I were to ask you to imagine what a highly sensitive person looks like, what springs to mind? For me, it's someone soft and sweet looking, wearing loose fabrics in pastel shades, sitting under a tree and playing with a litter of puppies. And that's obviously ridiculous!
Every relationship has different dynamics, and no two couples are the same. After all, they are the combination of two individuals with their own personal values, qualities, flaws, and hangups. But one thing the healthiest and most desirable relationship types have in common is that they bring out the best in both partners, and ...
Empathy is a word that gets bandied about a lot these days.
"Still waters run deep," as they say. A quiet countenance can conceal massive passion and depth of feeling. And in the increasingly loud world we live in, it's easy to forget that many people simply aren't verbose. But this doesn't mean they feel any less than those who are fluid and colourful with words.
My grandmother once told me, "For a man to want to stay, he must feel like he can leave."
Imagine the strongest couple you know.
The introverted amongst us possess a range of strengths that are highly valuable in various aspects of life. Beyond their creativity, problem-solving skills, and intuition, they have many other superpowers that are highly conducive to enormous success. We only need consider some well-known successful introverts, Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, JK Rowling, Leonardo ...

What makes someone appear aloof?
Struggling to get going these days?
We all want to give our children every advantage in life.
We are all inclined to think of ourselves as kind and caring people.
Achieving a goal is tough, even when things go our way! But when we encounter challenges, it becomes even harder. Yet, there are some impressive people who always seem to succeed, whatever is thrown at them. They simply have something in them that empowers them to overcome any obstacles that stand in their way.
Who doesn't want to experience more joy in their lives? Whether you're currently going through a rough patch or doing well, I'm sure we can agree that there is always room for improvement. And research shows there are simple things you can do to begin living a happier life.
Call them what you like: lone-wolves, introverts, low profilers... There are many among us that relish doing their own thing and forego social outings and events that involve big groups in favor of recharging privately. And this love of spending time alone speaks volumes about a person's character.
Whatever you want to call it -- happiness, contentment, joy -- we're all chasing it...
Imagine you've just accomplished something great. You are glowing with joy and excitement. You're proud of yourself (as you should be)!
Too often, we take how we think for granted. Because it's innately our way of grappling with thought, we're not aware of how it differs from other people's

"Who am I?" "What's my purpose?" "I don't know what I want anymore" Sound familiar? If so, you could be struggling with your sense of self, i.e. your identity. Your identity is made up of the values, relationships, experiences, and memories that give you purpose and guide you through life.
The workplace has long been the scene of many romances.
Some people spend their whole lives (or at least adolescence) trying to be popular. It's almost a societal obsession; popularity must be the subject of every teen flick since the [...] More
How do you define a good person?
Guys and gals, we've all been there! You meet a man, you find him attractive, you go out, you get on, it's all great, and then, bam! Something happens and you see him for what he really is... Immature, irresponsible, and self-centered. Incapable of being serious or calm. A total man-child.
How about a little light conversation? Bit of chitchat? A good chinwag, perhaps? Whatever you call it, and whether you like it or loath it, the ability to engage in small talk is an important social skill. Making a favorable impression on others bolsters your popularity, your career prospects, and your social status.
Imagine the most confident person you know; how they carry themselves, their body language, how they speak about themselves and others. Perhaps they are always looking dapper, or maybe they've been wearing the same t-shirt since 1995. Either way, this person is their authentic self and likely radiates warmth and positivity.
Are you reading this first thing, possibly feeling a bit groggy?
You think our partner is the best in the world. And you should! After all, you're in love with them.
Ever suspect your mother and father were too controlling? Too hard on you when you were a kid?
When I read articles like this, I am always blown away by just how much some people can get done before their cereal. We've all heard that the early bird catches the worm... or that 'early to bed, early to rise, makes a man (or woman) healthy, wealthy, and wise.'
I once worked under a brilliant news editor. Competent and razor-sharp, Jane (not her real name) had incredible anecdotes about stories she'd covered, people she'd interviewed, and places she'd reported from. Her expertise and experience were dizzying, her charisma magical. We were shortlisted for an auspicious award and our news team attended the ceremony.
Enjoy your alone time? But how do you know you really do? That it hasn't just become a habit, or you're not stuck in a rut?
