Hello, my name is Kristina and I am currently a local beat reporter for the South Jersey Times, a daily newspaper in Woodbury, N.J. As a reporter I cover municipals, school boards, elections, crime and feature stories. I also shoot videos and take photos during some of my assignments, and upload and edit them for the website, nj.com. As a reporter I often use social media to get my stories out to a wider audience across Facebook and Twitter, and sometimes post on our paper's social media accounts.
In May 2013, I was hired at the Times as a copy editor. As a copy editor I was in charge of reading the stories before they went into the paper and edited photos for print. After editing, I would then design the local inside pages and create headlines for the stories.
In May 2013 I graduated with a BA in journalism from Rowan University, in Glassboro, N.J. I graduated with 122 credits and a Cum Laude from the College of Communications and Creative Arts. While attending Rowan, I was Editor-in-Chief of the school's paper, The Whit, for two years. I was a staff member for four years and worked on every section of the paper. My sophomore year I was News Editor, and a month into school my freshman year I become the Assistant News Editor.
During Hurricane Sandy I freelanced for a daily paper The Courier Post in Cherry HIll N.J. and live tweeted the weekend. I posted tweets, pictures and videos and updated people of what was happening in the area I was staying in.
