China's Nio Has No Intention Of Letting Tesla Win

A few days ago, it was reported that China's most direct threat to Tesla, Nio, was on the verge of financial collapse. Even prior to the coronavirus outbreak, the electric vehicle automaker behind the ES8 SUV and EP9 supercar had financial difficulties. A very troublesome Q4 of 2019 only made matter worse.

NIO laying off dozens more employees in Silicon Valley

The Tencent-backed EV startup is making a second round of cuts in the US, laying off 62 employees from its North American headquarters in Santa Clara, California. NIO has struggled in 2019, in part because sales of its ES8 electric SUV have declined thanks to vanishing government subsidies and the trade war with the US.
