Summer Blaze offers refreshing rec

It's midafternoon on a warm summer day, and a group of children are swimming in the cool pools at Freedom High School in Oakley. Two 7-year-old girls come out of the water, giggling and smiling as they lie next to each other on the concrete to warm up and dry off.

Shooting hoax alerts Sac State police

The message was found at a women's restroom stall in the University Union stating "3:00 11/4 school shooting." Sac State Police Chief Mark Iwasa deemed it non-credible but to remain vigilant. "We did not consider it to be a credible safety issue."

Police chase ends on campus with arrest

The suspect was stopped by S.P.D. for not having a licence plate on what appeared to be a homemade motorcycle. "The traffic stop occurred off campus. The suspect then came on campus fleeing from city police," said Sac State Police Chief Mark Iwasa. "He attempted to ditch the motorcycle in the bike compound and hopped a fence.

The program is intended to protect campus from fires and other emergencies, but has failed to keep students informed.

Students explore politics and voting at Sac State's Fall Ethics Symposium

Nalder, who teaches government and serves as the director of Sac State's Project for an Informed Electorate, spoke about six problems facing the American electorate, including voter apathy and distrust of the media and elected officials. Nalder said voters have apathetic attitudes towards policy and voting because they think that the policies they vote for do not affect them.
