Adele Lee

Creative Writer, Blogger and Administrator

United Kingdom

Originally from Nottingham, I graduated from The University of Hull with a degree in English with Creative Writing in June 2013. For the past year I have been working and living in Australia, funding my passion for travel and gaining vital transferable skills, exposing myself to new cultures and experiencing different ways of life.

I blog, take photographs and write short stories for leisure; publishing them on various social media sites to raise my online presence and share my experiences with friends, family and the online public. I write for other publications whenever possible, enjoying the challenge of a set brief and the need to adapt my tone and style of writing.

As a writer, I am encapsulated by the human condition, and retain all of the stories that people tell me. I read as much and as diversely as possible, diving into literature which I find in book swaps and second hand stores. I like to keep up with contemporary news and modern issues, which inspire me in my creative work.

Postcards from England

Whilst I was travelling, I typed up excerpts of my life in witty shorts and storied, uploading photos I had taken on my camera and phone to accompany them. I love cultivating my blog; it allows me to voice my opinion on contemporary issues and have fun experimenting with different styles of voice and tone. I gained a wide viewing platform and good reviews for my writing - I was also offered marketing and advertising opportunities.

LIVE: Waterfront Festival 2013 - LeftLion

The Waterfront festival epitomises everything that Nottingham's music scene is doing well at the moment; it's unique and quirky - but most importantly it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Instagram

As I travel, visit new places and experience new things, I like to share my photographs and stories with the world via Instagram. As an image sharing site, Instagram is a great platform to showcase professional pictures and casual snaps - I like to make each photograph special and looking back through my account, each picture tells a story within the progression of my life.

How To Survive Freshers Week (Infographic)

I wrote, designed and helped to create the visuals behind an infographic for the Prezzybox.com blog, published during September. Prezzybox.com appeals to a student audience, with a high percentage of impulse buys, joke presents and fancy dress - so it was important for me to create content that was 'clickable' and spoke to students. The tone is jokey, light hearted and obviously high in drinking content.

I was in charge of the company social media accounts, managing adverts, responding to customer comments and posting content that people would want to share. Working on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram, using SEO techniques and online data analysis (mainly via moz.com), it was my job to make sure the page attracted a wide audience.
