I am the Director of Creative Strategy at a strategic communications firm that specializes in advanced energy, technology, and economic development sectors. I am also the Executive Producer of Energizing Tennessee, a podcast that explores the latest news and insights about the advanced energy sector.
I spent the early years of my career as a writer and editor in Knoxville and Boston, freelancing for clients in higher education, healthcare, energy, emerging technology, and entertainment. My primary focus now is using multimedia approaches to advance my clients' missions. I love projects in audio, video, and written storytelling mediums.

I have worn many hats over the years. From working as a Senior Writer at a content marketing agency to pursuing qualitative research as a master's student, my career trajectory hasn't been exactly straightforward. However, one thing that has remained constant over the years has been my passion for crafting a good story.
Cortney Piper serves as executive director of the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council. Tennessee unemployment lingers close to 10% as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to chew through livelihoods across the state. Likewise, millions of Americans are unemployed. The state has an opportunity in this economic downturn, however, to add jobs and make the state a leader in the advanced energy economy for transportation.
The Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council is passionate about connecting assets to opportunity. For the industry to continue to grow and organizations within it to become leaders regionally and around the globe, we must be intentional about building and maintaining strategic partnerships.
Millions of healthcare and essential workers have worn N95 respirators or other medical masks to protect themselves over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic. Current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention numbers indicate that over 148 million vaccines have been administered, the majority of which are Moderna or Pfizer doses.
