Astrophysics, Atmospheric Science, Oceanography, Applied Mathematics
I like to explain science or math to those who are not trained in it but are interested - or who are afraid of it, or distrust it.
I am a former scientist who took time off to raise kids, and I am now a science writer. As an applied mathematician, my research centered on fluid flows: in the atmosphere, the ocean, and the human heart. As a writer I am comfortable reporting on all aspects of the Earth system and beyond.
With experience in
- scientific research (National Center for Atmospheric Research)
- teaching (Yale University, University of Washington),
- business (Bain & Company), and
- raising kids (Boulder, Colorado),
I have lived in different sectors of society and learned how to listen and communicate.
Ask me to translate difficult, abstract concepts to the everyman for your organization!
