Tyler grew up in Olathe, Kan. where he attended Olathe South High School. Class of 2006.

After graduation he attended Johnson County Community College before transferring to the University of Kansas. During his tenure at KU, Tyler wrote and copy edited for the University Daily Kansan.

Sports reporting being his main focus he routinely covered track and field, tennis, soccer and occasionally baseball before graduating with a bachelor's degree in journalism along with a minor in history.

Brew: Tharpe makes difference in Kansas backcourt

Maybe he missed the shot or he committed the ominous foul. But this year Kansas has been able to overcome mistakes in guard play and subsequently has turned the backcourt into a strength. 10.1 assists per game to 6.0 turnovers per game is what Elijah Johnson, Naadir Tharpe and Travis Releford are averaging going into Friday's match-up against Michigan.

Track star Dixon qualifies for Olympics

In the final round of qualifying for the 400-meter Sunday night, Dixon was up against some of the best in the world, including 2011 World Champion Sanya Richard-Ross. Needing at least a top-six finish to make the U.S. Olympic Team, Dixon ran a school record time of 50.88 and a earned a fifth-place finish that secured her spot on the team.

Stigler, Geubelle still in hunt for Olympics

The events are coming to an end, but the competition remains at full strength. Stowe, a senior, ran in the final round of qualifying for the 3,000-meter Steeplechase Friday evening. She had one of her best performances of the year finishing with a time of 10:02.82 and a 13th place finish, but it was not enough for a trip to London.

Kansas soccer gets second chance in 1-0 win over Georgia

"I think that everyone had that in the back of their mind," said junior forward Caroline Kastor. "I mean they ended our season last year. This year, we didn't want them to come away with a win." The match ended in a shutout as senior Kat Liebetrau and the rest of the team played a great game defensively.

Kansas tennis jumps in the rankings, hosts UMKC Thursday

One thing the snow has not managed to stall is the movement of the Jayhawks up the rankings of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Ranked No. 65 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's top 75, Kansas is set to host the University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos 3 p.m.
