Tatev Derzyan

Hi there!

I'm Tatev, and my name translates from Armenian as "give me wings." I've taken this meaning to heart, using it as a guiding principle in my life. Through the power of writing, I aim to give myself and others the wings to wonder.

My inspiration comes from various sources. It could be a captivating word I stumbled upon in a podcast, a thought-provoking paragraph from a book, or a movie character that embodies significant societal issue. I strive to infuse my personal experiences into the essays I write about, offering an added perspective and value.

I started my journey as a published writer when I was just 16 years old. Since then, my essays have garnered acclaim in Armenia, Russia, and the USA. At the age of 18, I had the incredible opportunity to speak at the United Nations General Assembly. These experiences have shaped me and broadened my worldview.

Throughout my travels in America and Europe, I have further enriched my understanding of the world. Having faced a devastating war in my homeland, a life of an immigrant, a toxic workplace made me also realize the harsh realities of human existence thus empowering my imagination as a writer.
