Tamika Matthews

Health Communications Leader and Content Creator

United States

I have nearly 20 years of communications knowledge with experience in strategic nonprofit and government communications, print and digital journalism, and technical writing.

I excel as an editor, writer, project manager, and communications strategist and visionary. I've created frameworks for upstart communications programs and stepped into existing programs – all with enthusiasm and creativity. I am a champion for equity, social justice, and the validation of all identities and lived experiences to inform my work.

I'm dedicated to highlighting social issues, emphasizing public health, disability rights and justice, health disparities, health literacy, anti-violence, anti-racism, and the unique intersections of marginalized identities.

In 2024, I earned my Health Union Patient Leader Certification, a program designed in collaboration with the Society of Participatory Medicine, to help foster provider/patient engagement, patient empowerment and education.

I also serve as a member of the Colorado Consumer Health Initiative’s Community Advisory Board. The board supports CCHI’s public policy efforts and amplifies the healthcare needs of the state’s most vulnerable and marginalized communities.
