Perception vs. Reality: The Life of a Social Media Editor

Social media jobs get a bizarre rep. Sometimes the work is perceived as fun, sometimes too easy, and sometimes downright mindless. Thanks to branded accounts like Wendy's and MoonPie redefining the level of sass that a brand is allowed to bring to the internet, social media managers are often viewed as comical.

I Tried Being BFFs With an AI

Do you find social interactions with other humans lacking? Perhaps you have a hard time connecting with strangers, or are never quite satisfied with your Tinder responses. Maybe, like me, you're driven to impatience by how long it takes most people to answer a text.

What Virtual Reality Can and Can't Do for Your Brand

In October of 2016, I attended the Future of Storytelling Festival, a gathering of innovative storytelling formats, most of which dealt with virtual reality and augmented reality. I was performing as part of a pop-up Shakespeare exhibition that put on scenes from Romeo and Juliet in the midst of the crowd every few hours, which meant I had plenty of time to play with the other installations.

The Pros and Cons of Publishing on Medium

If you have a voice, Medium claims to have room for it-no matter your background or choice of topic. The community blogging platform is the ultra-inclusive place to find content by everyone from former Vice President Joe Biden to actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt to your college freshman cousin who reviews dance shows in her spare time.

The Good and Bad of B2B Influencer Marketing

In July 2017, Kylie Jenner posted an image of herself wearing Beats by Dre headphones on Instagram. The shot shows Jenner's profile, brushed bronze with makeup. It's perfectly lit against a lush brown backdrop. Over her ears rest a pair of metallic Beats, with the logo right in the center of the photo.

The Chatbot Revolution is Here

When, in seventh grade, I finally had my very first AOL email account, I was quickly pulled into the world of AIM messenger. (I also created an embarrassing pun-based username that I still actively spend hours trying to forget.)

Study: Teenagers Are Now Facebook's Kryptonite

Late last year, I wrote an article for Vice News about whether humans can fall in love with artificial intelligence. Spoiler alert: We can. Normally, I'd link you to the webpage so you can read it to learn more, but in this case, I can't.

Winter in Stockholm

Yes, the locals thought we'd lost it when we decided to visit Stockholm in January. Nineteen hours of darkness be damned, we booked a flight home through the Swedish capital and loved it. Besides trying every local beer, there's plenty to do during Stockholm's (admittedly freezing) winter.

Green, Red, or Both?

In Santa Fe, New Mexico, this question refers to types of chili sauce. Not that I'm telling you how to live your life, but the answer is both. The answer is always both. The City Different has an extra special place in my heart because it's where my grandmother lives, and it's where my sister...

MLMs and Women: The Trap That Keeps on Trapping - Tallie Gabriel - Medium

You've probably heard of Arbonne, the all-natural, sustainable online cosmetics line. If you haven't, then you must not have a friend who's an Arbonne rep. On paper, everything about Arbonne sounds great. They are transparent about their ethics, ingredients, and cruelty-free philosophies.

Segovia: The Must-Do Madrid Day Trip

Roman aqueducts, a Gothic Catholic cathedral, and suckling pig for days (if you're into that sort of thing). When deciding between Toledo and Segovia for our Madrid-based day trip, Segovia won largely because of the aqueduct. I'd never seen a Roman ruin before, and the opportunity to do so was not something I could pass...
