ST. LOUIS - The City of St. Louis will celebrate its 250th birthday, starting this weekend. One part of the festivities includes 250 birthday cakes spread throughout the region, but due to the weather, about 40 of those are still not set up.

'Super volunteer' honored at Brodsky Library

ST. LOUIS - When you think of libraries of course good old fashioned, hard covered books come to mind. At the Saul Brodsky Jewish Community Library much of the work is being done on computers, and by a very special young man. On Thursday Sam Lyss was honored as the library's "super volunteer."

Rubin Israel Experience gathering applicants for cost-free trip to Israel

The Jewish Federation of St. Louis will be holding information, sessions on March 11 and April 2 for it's seventh Rubin Israel Experience trip (rubinisrael.org). The trip, which runs from Sept. 7-17, gives 10 local people between the ages of 27-45 a chance to travel cost-free to Israel and see the country in a more in-depth way than a tourist would.

Local Holocaust survivor's story told through live performance

When Suzanne Tanner met St. Louisan Rachel Goldman Miller, both women embarked on what Tanner calls a "destined" journey. One stop along the way: the St. Louis performance of "Beyond Me: A Song Cycle in the Key of Survival," which celebrates Miller's life through a musical theater piece created and performed by Tanner.

Board Member Spotlight: Mike Kinman

Mike Kinman believes that God has guided the necessary people to Magdalene St. Louis every step of the way. For the current Magdalene St. Louis board president and dean of Christ Church Cathedral, it began in 1998. Kinman was helping put together a conference for young clergy, and part of his job was receiving workshop proposals.
