NEPHAK Communications Strategy
A communications strategy I developed for the National Empowerment Network of People living with HIV/AIDS in Kenya (NEPHAK).
Communications Specialist with 15 years experience in developing and executing high-level strategic communications. I am the Head of Communications at Professional Writers Kenya, in charge of both our internal and external communications. I founded the firm in 2011 and have driven its growth to its current position as one of the leading writing and communications firm in Kenya and East Africa. We have assisted hundreds of clients (organizations and individuals) with their writing, communications, and research needs. In addition, I serve as a Communications Consultant for several organizations, government institutions, and businesses. These have included the Machakos County Government, the Laikipia County Government, UNICEF, Save the Children, the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF), the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (NaMATA), Takaful Insurance of Africa Ltd (TIA), Las Khorey Tuna Factory (Somalia), African Relief and Development (ARD), SOMGUM Cooperative, Sabuli Wildlife Conservancy, Leaf Tobacco and Commodities Uganda Limited, Hello Tractor, Homes Kenya, Smart Writers UK, Soaring Falcon (China/Malaysia), SHAG Group of Companies (Somalia), Brighthouse Schools (Ethiopia), and Benadir University (Somalia). One of my notable career highlights was achieved as a Project Manager for the USAID-funded National Advocacy Program for Governance Reforms at APSEA where I successfully galvanized professionals towards supporting the proposed Constitution, resulting in professionals adopting a common position on the Constitution, which was later passed by an overwhelming majority. I was also a part of high-level team comprising of the former Minister of Justice the late Hon. Mutula Kilonzo Snr, former Deputy Chief Justice Dr. Nancy Baraza, and prominent constitutional lawyer Prof. Yash Pal Ghai that developed the APSEA Draft State Officer Appointments Guidelines Bill 2011. My communications work at APSEA significantly raised the profile of the organization and culminated in the inclusion of APSEA in Article 230 of the Constitution of Kenya in recognition of APSEA's role in the constitutional process, an achievement I am very proud of.
