Sean Fleming

Writer, editor, journalist

United Kingdom

I'm a writer, editor, and journalist based in the UK. My main areas of focus are technology, retail and retail logistics, marketing, public relations and the media, politics, and music.
Over the last 20 or so years, I’ve launched online & print titles, written for UK national & regional newspapers, ghost-written books, and had work syndicated worldwide.
I've also spent several years as a PR and marketing consultant, and have worked with many Fortune 500 companies, as well as startups and challenger brands.
This is a - by no means comprehensive - collection of some of my work. Why not drop me an email - [email protected]

Thought Leadership corner: IT'S TIME FOR CONGESTION TO HIT THE ROAD

There are too many deliveries being made in the UK. Does that sound like something you'd agree with? Maybe if you're an etailer not hitting your targets you'd disagree. But according to the Local Government Association (LGA) the increase in ecommerce web traffic has led to a corresponding increase in road traffic.

Business Intelligence: seeking the answers you need

In the 1976 movie The Pink Panther Strikes Again, the hapless police inspector Jacques Clouseau, played by Peter Sellers, checks into a hotel. He walks across the lobby where there is a small dog lying down. Clouseau turns to the nearby hotel clerk and asks:

Taking Stock #10: Not so many giggles in the gig economy

I don't remember the first time I heard someone use the term 'the gig economy'. In fact, I probably didn't hear it at all, I most likely read it. I do remember my reaction though - I didn't know what it meant.

Taking stock: interview with Tim Robinson, Doddle

In recent weeks, just keeping up with the flurry of announcements from Doddle has left me feeling more than a little like one of its team of runners. New stores, community-based services, and that team of runners I've already mentioned - pounding the mean streets of central London - are just (more...)

The end of social

Blog post: do ex-journalists make the best copywriters:? I dislike predictions. But I'm going to make one... there will be no more big social networks. We've reached, and passed, a tipping point. Why? Because they're all being strangled at birth by over-eager PR and marketing people, who - for all their impressive-sounding job titles and amazeballs CVs - seem to have completely forgotten all the basics of social.

Symantec reveals plans for EMEA partners

Symantec resellers need not fear getting the chop as the security company unveils its new channel strategy . Although a little light on detail, when asked about the current size of its partner channel and the ideal size of a future channel, Symantec's VP of EMEA partner management, Mark Nutt, confirmed that having the right channel mix was more important than the overall size.

In the beginning

Blogging about rebuilding a guitar: I've been a huge fan of Johnny Marr since the early 1980s. So when Fender issued the Johnny Marr Signature Edition Jaguar in 2012 I was delighted. Did I want one? Maybe. Probably. But I wasn't entirely sure. Yes, it looked amazing. But it wasn't cheap and I didn't really like the colours that it came in.
