Synopsis for the Fyre Festival documentary. I wanted to capture the true feel of the chaos surrounding the festival and its bait-and-switch nature.
This is a small sampling of the synopses I wrote for all 180 episodes of "Seinfeld." With a show that's so well-known for iconic moments and storylines, my goal was to touch on those moments to provide reference for fans who may be searching for a favorite scene or episode. This was particularly important given that the episode titles often don't provide that context.
Netflix synopsis for Tiger King. I watched this title about two months before it was released to the public, and it was hard to find words to describe what I had seen! This was a playful way to introduce the Joe-Carol rivarly with a nod to the big cats that brought them into each other's world.
This light-hearted, comic documentary about the history of profanity deserved synopses that treated the content with the same humorous tone.
I wrote synopses for many kids' shows at Netflix, and this is one example of my ability to create copy in this space.
A sample of Netflix synopses for the "remixed" Season 4 of Arrested Development. The goal was to maintain a voice that feels like it comes from within the show's world.
This short-lived but sweet and funny series about high schoolers in the 1990s was heavy on nostalgia, which I emphasized in the synopsis copy.
The Lonely Island approved of my synopsis of their musical parody about 1980s Oakland A's stars Jose Canseco and Mark McGwire.
I got some good social media feedback for my synopsis of American Vandal, a parody of true-crime documentaries. I took a risk with the language here, but it was appropriate given the tone of the show and Netflix's marketing campaign.

Hall of Fame hockey player Sergei Fedorov defected from the Soviet Union to the United States in 1990, but a full, accurate account of how it happened had never been published until I wrote this story 25 years later.
When a new minor-league baseball venture in the Pacific Northwest went out of business just a few days after its first and only season started, I looked into what went wrong and how it affected the lives of the players who were hung out to dry.
I covered the Portland Timbers' run to the MLS Cup final in 2021. This is my game story from an intense match that was decided on penalty kicks in front of a sold-out crowd in Portland.
I covered the NCAA men's basketball tournament in Portland in 2022. This is a preview story I wrote the day before the tournament started.
This is a profile I wrote for the Oregonian of 17-year-old hockey player Ty Rattie, who was pursuing a professional career playing for the Portland Winterhawks, a franchise I covered for more than a decade. (This is a repost of the story on the Western Hockey League official site.)
The Portland Timbers' Dairon Asprilla scored one of the greatest goals in MLS history, and I was there to write about the game, the goal and what it all meant to the Colombian player.
When a team from Uganda was allowed to play in a Little League World Series in the United States for the first time, I met them and wrote about their difficult journey to the tournament.
I was there to cover the night the Denver Nuggets set an NBA record for bad shooting.

I covered the first show of Conan O'Brien's live tour following his departure from "The Tonight Show."
