Welcome to my writing portfolio where you will find selected readings from my work available online. Below you will find writing samples that show my work as a copywriter (with Sportradar), journalism (with Southside Pride, a South Minneapolis community newspaper), graduate school research writing (at the University of Arizona English Department), and instructional design. Additionally, I have written for Profitable Ideas Exchange, a business consultancy in Bozeman, Montana. My work with PIE is proprietary.

Since 2015, I have worked in financial services. From July 2020 to June 2023, I worked as Senior Home Loan Processor with Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. Previous to that, I was Personal Banker and Executive Response Specialist with U.S. Bank. From 2004 to 2015, I served as instructor of college English for multiple private colleges where I trained adult learners in writing, editing, and communication.

Guthrie's 'Sunday in the Park with George' true to Sondheim, for good or ill

BY ADAM MICHAEL SCHENCK Theater composer Stephen Sondheim is known as iconoclastic because his musicals do not lend themselves easily to memory. One won't find oneself humming the songs from the Guthrie's production of "Sunday in the Park with George." Multiple catchy tunes are the expectation for the musical, but Sondheim offers his audience complexity in both feeling and form.

Try to Imagine the Iowa of My Dreams

To the Editor: Thanks for printing "Keeping Iowa's Young Folks at Home After They've Seen Minnesota." I have a double understanding of Verlyn Klinkenborg's points: I have both worked in Iowa's corporate agriculture industry and left the state for warmer, though less green, climes.

English 101

Jungle's 'Fly By Night'is Broadway-quality musical

BY ADAM MICHAEL SCHENCK Coolly and calmly Sarah Rasmussen strides amongst the opening night crowd at the Jungle Theater. She directs "Fly By Night" and organizes the operation of the Jungle as its artistic director. When she speaks to introduce the show, Sarah utters not a single "umm" and speaks fluidly, and forgoes asking for donations-the product on the stage will do that.

Star Tribune Letter to the Editor

It happened in Boston, but let’s bring the lesson home An essential lesson of business is to externalize risk and privatize profit. This approach has a downside, however. When Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges kept a campaign promise and proposed mandatory sick pay for workers in Minneapolis, big business was up in arms. The costs would hurt the bottom line, they cried. The proposal fizzled.

Theatre in the Round's "Private Lives": Inside the relationship

BY ADAM MICHAEL SCHENCK "They must be so happy together," he said. "Well, we're not inside the relationship," she responded. While my dialogue may not match the wit from Noël Coward in his 1930 comedy of manners "Private Lives," the phrase "inside the relationship" probably hits home for many of us.
