I cover news for The Daily Emerald in Eugene, Oregon. Recently I have specialized in labor coverage, both breaking news and investigative work. In rural Northern California, I covered local politics and protests, festivals and sports. My work has been published in The Daily Emerald, Eureka Times-Standard, North Coast Journal, Humboldt Sports, and The Pepperbox. I mostly work in print/online but I have experience with video, audio and on-camera roles. I was an active member in my high school newsroom, and I'm currently studying Journalism, Science Communications and Spanish at University of Oregon.
According to the University of Oregon Student Workers Union, last week, UO charged resident assistants who chose to strike $2,400 to $5,000 for occupying their rooms while on strike. In most students' minds there never lies the worry that their family will be drafted or die fighting, but for some students, it is an ever-present feeling.
"I like it when people share positive comments. We should remain positive and take care of our students," Arcata High Principal Ron Perry said.
