Lead-Enriched Lettuce

During the May flooding, rivers deposited heavy metals over agricultural plots, poisoning some fruits and vegetables. People whose gardens and yards were affected were never told what to do about the toxins. The Ahmedovićs' garden was submerged in May. They replanted vegetables after the water retreated.

Foster Care According to One's Conscience

BiH does not have a good foster care oversight system, which is why children are at the mercy of families who have taken them in. Some live with people being sued for bad care of others. Neighbors reported that children living with Hasnija Džaferagić were forced to do hard physical labor.
