Freelance Writer

United States

I grew up in Savannah, Georgia and did my undergraduate degree in chemistry at Armstrong Atlantic State University. I obtained my PhD in analytical chemistry from Georgia Institute of Technology. I then did a postdoctoral stint in preparation for a faculty position at a research-intensive graduate institution. I then decided to go towards the applied side of chemistry and enter the patent world. First, I became a patent examiner for a year and decided that I was more interested in helping clients obtain patents for their inventions. I then studied for the patent bar exam and and obtained my license to practice before the US Patent office. I then worked as a patent agent for a law firm and two companies.

Then I became a freelance technical and scientific writer writing a wide variety of technical and scientific documents for different companies such as standard operating procedures, instruction manuals, user manuals, articles, blogs, case studies, application notes, white papers, and other similar types of documents. During my past 18 years of technical and scientific writing experience since graduate school, I have also written over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles in high-impact academic journals, written several grant proposals and written a wide variety of other types of technical and scientific documents. In my spare time, I now do a lot of general types of freelancing work on a wide variety of topics that I am interested in.
