Why is it that the hardest thing to write is about yourself?

On most days, I listen to stories of people I meet and how they navigate (Sri Lankan) society. On some days, I write these stories down with the hope that we would be better able to understand the society we live in. When not writing, I spend my time reading, travelling around the island or engaging in my guilty pleasure of scrolling through TikTok.
