The London walk that's like stepping back in time

Best time: Start out two hours before dusk Distance: Approximately 5 kilometres Follow in the footsteps of Charles Dickens and walk the same streets he did as he dreamt up the characters and places for such classics as Bleak House and Nicholas Nickleby.

There's a story as old as advertising. An agency is invited to tender...

They come in and sell the client their creative; finding reasons to disregard all the clients' concerns. When the client feels their preferences have gone unheard, they label the agency "emotionally attached" to their work. They probably are to be fair because they had free rein. This way lies madness.

Ducks don't wear nappies. Neither should video campaigns.

So you've been tasked with doing a video campaign. Seeing ROI. You bring in an agency, and decide on an animated explainer video. Your company has x, y and z to convey; and your department head needs the campaign to up conversion rates by x amount (or top some metric amount they've pulled out the top of a hat - oops, I mean a database - somewhere).

Why We Don't Like Data. Because He's A Know It All.

We've all been to a party where one person holds court. For every few words the people, in the circle, manage to squeeze in, this guy comes back with three times the number of anecdotes. At first, you're fairly impressed by his amazing recall, and ability to spin out a yarn.

Excerpt from The Lost Lessons of Imaginary Men - Nicola Perry - Medium

Look up from the shuffle of shoes and I see Upper Manhattan is blue. My god, this light is incredible. Carry on walking the seven blocks down from Broadway and W 110th, I worry ahead of time that I am holding something up somewhere in the Manhattan cosmos, but sometimes a person simply has to come up for air.

Excerpt II from Baffling Shapes of Others - Nicola Perry - Medium

Dear Phi, In all the years she was our teacher, your father and I never saw Madame Kyoko beyond the confines of her study. Before the Un-Seeing, walking a supermarket aisle one day, I was sure I spied her coiled dragon scarf skimming the tuna fish tins as she rounded a corner but, rushing forward in the scarf's wake, I never could verify whether it was her or not.
