Melonie Clarke @Meloniec_90

Staff Writer, The Lady

United Kingdom

At The Lady I have written numerous features, from stunt jobs (being an elf for the day and helping out on the 1940s farm to mention just two of oh so many) to interviews (including an exclusive with Lady Jane Fellowes) as well as numerous regular columns I work on such as First Impressions, a property page, events guide and a section on herbal remedies.

I also work on our spotlight issues. Each issue of the magazine will have a certain spotlight topic such as legacy planning, health or travel for example and there will be a number of features specifically around that topic. I cordinate these pages, be it writing copy or commissioning.

Being Staff Writer means I get to write about anything and everything (both ideas i've pitched myself and things i've been commissioned) which I love as it's always different and keeps me on my toes.

Before the world of The Lady I spent a month working with Search News Media, an SEO group. During my time there I was writing car reviews.

I also spent a short amount of time writing radio shows for the 1940s radio station based online. Loving the fashion and music of the era I found this a great deal of fun.

My degree in Geology and Science communication helped me learn how to break down those big science topics and explain them to the normal person via radio, television and print. My time studying this degree gave me the chance to learn how to use programmes such as Sound Studio and the chance to get hands on with television recording equipment.
