I've been a freelance writer (and an in-house writer, and an agency writer, and a fiction writer) since 2006. I've written all kinds of material for a wide array of media. My more recent work includes copy for websites, blogs, ads, scripts and local flavor projects like Yonder Backyard Adventures, a collaboration with designer and photographer Tim Lucas, focused on community and culture, and adventure, in my hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee. Some of my regular freelance work includes copy for clients of Robin Easter Design, based in Knoxville, and South Marketing Group, based in Morristown, Tennessee. I particularly enjoy helping local businesses and entrepreneurs find the voice that best communicates their message and unique contribution to the tapestry of vibrant communities in East Tennessee.
As the in-house copywriter for Cellular Sales, headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, I developed concepts and wrote copy for radio spots, blog posts, email promotions, flyers, scripts and whatever else we could make to keep this nationwide company's brand voice vibrant.
Before taking on this role, I served as a content developer for ad agency Designsensory, which gave me the privilege of researching and writing for a fascinating array of companies and topics. Agency life demanded that my work stay relevant and polished, and kept my technical skills, such as SEO, honed.
My traditional publishing experience includes interviewing for, writing and editing articles for Marquee Magazine, Home and Hill and The Anniston Star. I've contributed to DemandMedia.com, which provides content for LiveStrong, eHow, GlobalPost and other sites.
I am always working on fiction projects. My debut novel, Haints, is an Appalachian magical realism novel. It's set for release in the fall of 2021.
