Marrion Cruz

Freelance Journalist & Journalism Student

United States

I'm a freelance journalist based in California, focused on education, policy, and the community. Currently, I'm reporting for The Guardsman, a community-college newspaper in the Bay Area. I previously reported for The Orion, a state-college newspaper in Butte County, where I covered campus politics and the change of American dynamics during the post-Obama administration.

After several years away from the newsroom, I’m returning to journalism with a renewed focus on underreported communities and policy impact. My work is shaped by lived experience, curiosity, and a commitment to storytelling that reflects the people behind the headlines.
