ACE champions Jordan and Laila Scott focus their philanthropic support on helping children-they are heavily involved with Dell Children's Hospital in addition to investing in early literacy through ACE: A Community for Education , for instance.
As AmeriCorps service with ACE is many of our members' first full-time job, we take seriously the idea that national service should always provide an invaluable year of workforce development-a year of experience that will be attractive to employers.
ACE provides to at-risk students an opportunity through literacy, and ultimately the quality of that opportunity is what appeals most to Fred and Karin as donors. They appreciate ACE's emphasis on research and data, and the way that "the ACE tutors and professional staff are always looking to make their program more effective."
The reading interventions, or lessons customized around each child's ability, that our tutors implement with students during tutoring sessions are based around these important benchmarks, or based on a set of skills expected from a student at his particular grade level.
Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol has to be the most-performed drama in the U.S. It's everywhere this time of year-at least six productions going on in Atlanta alone right now. I've loved the Tavern's adaptation of A Christmas Carol since I first saw it in 2008.

Remember a few months back, when I said our production of Lewis Theobald's [and supposedly William Shakespeare's?] Double Falsehood was sure to make us examine exactly what we mean when we say "This is Shakespeare," or "This is not Shakespeare?"
