Whether penning snappy stories and ad copy for Bead Style magazine, promoting Milwaukee weddings for Premier Bride, or blogging the wonders of Taco Bell breakfast, writing is my thing. I'm well versed in contributing creatively, meeting deadlines, keeping a “can do” attitude under pressure, and tackling changes in print and online media. My coworkers call me a natural team player: dedicated, cooperative, and open-minded. Outside the office, I'm equipped with a cultivated appreciation of art, culture, travel, and a good sense of humor.

Carolyn Comtois crafts gemstone jewelry that's a lot like candy: sweet and irresistible. While she says bold, vibrant colors are her favorite to play with, we were taken with Carolyn's talent for combining pastels and mixing a myriad of gems in one lovely design.

Blogger turned bridesmaid: My day at the Premier Bride fashion shoot

As I pulled up to Twisted Willow Farm in Grafton for Premier Bride 's Rustic Romance photo shoot, I felt like Anne returning to Green Gables. The sun peeked out over a white farmhouse with forest green trim, a big red barn, and a shimmering pond in the midst of it all - and the picture-perfection had only just begun.

Bead Talk

"Fresh flowers always make me smile," says Bead Style publisher Linda Kast. When we saw her blossoming necklace, the smiles were contagious. Linda started by collecting Lucite leaves, petals, and flowers in brilliant colors and whimsical shapes.

Recipe: Chicken tikka masala

I remember when my friends first pushed me to try Indian food back in college. We went to Maharaja in Milwaukee for the lunch buffet and everyone said to start with the chicken tikka masala. Since the dish consists of tender chicken in a creamy tomato sauce, it's a safe bet for those just dipping their toe into this exotic cuisine.

December Birthstone project

Come December, I live in layers. To fit into my winter wardrobe, jewelry has to be something I can throw on over a black turtleneck of drapey sweater. This necklace fits the bill! Just connect turquoise and pyrite in one long loop for chic and easy style.

Reception Sites 101: Ballrooms

When people think of wedding receptions, most picture the traditional ballroom. It might be a hotel ballroom or any facility with a large banquet hall. A ballroom is a classic choice for a reception, offering old-world sophistication and (most times) the convenience of an all-inclusive experience.

Review: Taco Bell breakfast

Rachelle is my bosom friend (shout out Anne and Diana!). Whenever she's in town from New York, the first thing on our To Do list is simply: EAT. While it's a blessing to be always hungry and therefore never short on ideas of what to eat, narrowing down our many urges to just one all-encompassing meal can, as Anne would say, "try the soul."

A sampling of lead paragraphs

For the hostess with the mostess or that vino-loving pal, homemade wine charms are the perfect little gift. The great thing is that all you really need are some hoop earring findings and your bead stash. Pick out coordinating large-hole beads (they can coordinate by color palette, theme, materials — you name it!), and you'll have festive gifts in a flash. Cin cin (cheers!).

Travel tips: When in Rome

I've been a typical tourist in Rome three times now. Here are some do's and don'ts I've picked up along the way. Do tour the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica. And if you're able to hear the Pope's address, do it! Do go inside the Forum.
