History of the TVA

TVA's history is really interesting, especially given how much things have changed from its original mission. TVA was established in 1933 as part of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal. TVA was created for economic development and environmental conservation. And yes, energy too. TVA was created not just to help electrify the south.
