Birmingham based soul/funksters CANTALOOP played a rather intimate gig at The Yardbird in the city centre last night to launch their latest single 'Avalanching'. Upon arrival at the venue, the party was already in full swing with slick old skool soul classics being pumped out from a DJ and people busting their skanking moves out on the intimate dancefloor, occasionally spilling out in to the forecourt.
Starting up a festival in this day and age must have a billion questions; "Will people turn up?", "Will tickets sell?", "Who can I get to play?" amongst many others. Well the inaugural Big Boro Festival in Nuneaton started as a rousing success.
Former X-Factor star Lucy Spraggan is set to headline a music festival in Lichfield. The second Lichfield Rocks event will take place at The Bowling Green on July 26. And Lucy won't be the only TV talent show star on the bill - Burntwood singer Mitchell Emms will also appear after his run on The Voice.
Funk poppers Cantaloop will showcase their new single 'Avalanching ' at an exclusive launch event in Birmingham this June. During a live show at Birmingham's Yardbird Jazz Club on June 13th, Cantaloop will perform ' Avalanching ' live for the first time ahead of its official release on June 16th.

When Kettle introduced Cantaloop to me, I have to admit I was not quite sure what to expect as I was a little unfamiliar with their work. But with their new single Avalanching, their song certainly tumbles down with mixed emotions. For although they are a fusion of jazz and funk, it is not junk.
