Web & Blog Copy — Home Improvement + Misc.
With a background in journalism, I have a passion for telling stories. I've worked as a creative copywriter, editor, and content producer to help brands develop and tell their unique stories on digital platforms. I have experience with marketing copy headlines/taglines, email marketing, social media, brand identity development, content management, digital publishing, blogging, and SEO writing.
I've earned certificates in professional editing and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. Before the pandemic, I lived in Nagoya, Japan where I taught English at a private language school to children and adults.
I've worked as part of an in-house creative team and with multiple clients in an agency setting, so I'm familiar with working with style guides, creative briefs, and producing work that requires quick turnaround with attention to cohesive branding and messaging.
If you'd like to learn more about me and the work I've done, please reach out. Looking forward to connecting!

The aim of this project was to capture the organization's refreshed brand voice and mission and translate it across all pages of its redesigned website. I worked with the client and graphic designers to bring this project to life.

This was a series of blog posts I developed for KILZ Primer's 2023 "Destination Restoration" project. This series followed an interior designer and pro painter as they helped refresh a house with DIY fixes instead of major renovations to create one couple's dream home.
This is a blog post that I wrote for KILZ Primer's blog, The Perfect Finish. I was contracted to write SEO content for their inspiration section to motivate and educate DIYers to tackle their home improvement projects in 2022.

If you've been putting off starting a new project, you're not alone. Winter's increasingly shorter days can make us feel like there's never enough time to start something new, let alone finish it. But with the arrival of spring and daylight savings, now's the time to shift your mindset, pick up that paint brush, and get to work.
Working from home requires your full attention and focus, but with so many things around the house competing for your attention, it may feel impossible to tackle even the smallest items on your to-do list. Feeling overwhelmed may even be the reason you've put off designing a functional home office, but there's no time like the present to get to work.
Beauty/Lifestyle
During the pandemic, many of us (myself included) took a long and freeing hiatus from wearing makeup regularly, and to be honest, it did wonders for my skin.
While it may seem economical to use up all your old skincare products before buying new ones, it's not the best idea if those products aren't clean.
Noticing dark circles, bags, or puffiness underneath your eyes? You're not alone. While these concerns are often associated with being tired, not getting enough sleep, or simply getting older, there are many other reasons why dark circles might occur.
Aloe vera has been around for centuries and is widely regarded for its healing properties. You likely know it as a soothing way to treat sunburns or an aesthetically pleasing houseplant, but you may be surprised to learn just how many ways it can be used as a treatment for all kinds of skin concerns.
From split ends to frizz, there are a surprising number of reasons your hair can lose its luster. Some things using heat and chemicals are in your control, but others, such as genetics and UV rays are not.
There are many reasons to love your scalp. Its natural oils do everything from keeping your hair hydrated and shiny to improving overall scalp and hair health, but if you've ever gone a few too many days between shampoos, you may have experienced the negative effects of scalp buildup.
In our youth-obsessed culture, adjusting to wrinkles, ailing joints, and gray hair can be pretty overwhelming, but learning about the way your body ages is your best defense.
Dark circles can be annoying, stubborn, and plain unflattering, but they happen to the best of us. Besides lack of sleep and proper hydration, you may notice bags or puffiness near your eyes if you smoke, drink, are chronically stressed, or exposed to heavy air pollution.
As you age, your skin changes in appearance and texture, and there are certain self-care habits you should consider starting. You may have heard of dry brushing, but if you don't fully understand it, you're not alone.

Stress from our outside world, can begin to rear its ugly head in our inside world; from dull skin to dry hair, it can show up any and everywhere. The good news is, no matter what's going on in your life, you can arm yourself with a simple self-care routine.
Health/Wellness
Collagen is one of the most prominent beauty buzzwords out there, but do you actually know what it is or what it does? Put simply, collagen is a bit like the "glue" that holds your teeth, joints, connective tissue, skin, hair, and bones together.
There are many reasons to consider adding breathwork to your self-care routine. Not only has it been proven to relieve stress , reduce anxiety, calm the mind and nervous system, and improve mental clarity and focus, but it can also help with things like emotional trauma, high blood pressure, and insomnia.
Apart from water, tea is the most widely enjoyed beverage in the world. Teas of all kinds have been ritualistically consumed in the East for centuries and they've steadily become more popular in the West thanks to our increased awareness of their many health benefits.
While modern Western medicine has given us many, significant, life-saving advancements, it only treats the body's individual pieces and corresponding symptoms. Holistic health, on the other hand, views physical health and overall wellness differently. Put simply, a holistic approach considers the mind-body connection, while Western medicine does not.
Unlike other types of yoga, which are much more active, restorative yoga provides total relaxation for your body and mind. By using props to rest in poses for extended periods of time, the body is able to let go of strain and the mind is free to relax.

Even the most conscious non-toxic beauty buyers, may have a hard time avoiding endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), and if you're just beginning your clean beauty journey, they're important to understand. EDCs interfere with normal hormone functions and can affect things like reproduction and brain development.
Film/TV
There it is again, that funny feeling... After a year and a half of staying inside, Burnham gives us a reason to smile. While I'm roughly the same age as Bo Burnham, I don't know him from YouTube.
What could have paid tribute to the Hitchcock classic, Rear Window, is instead messy, disjointed, a little dull, and ultimately a letdown to the voyeur-genre film. For as anticipated a release as this was, pushed back several times due o the pandemic, The Woman in the Window was pretty underwhelming and ineffective.
When one person's existence jeopardizes the lives of all on-board, issues of ethics take the wheel in Joe Penna's stunning sophomoric feat.
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...
How do our expectations of reality translate to rape-revenge stories in film?
A Korean family moves to the Ozarks to build their dream and steal our hearts. The performances across the board in this film are so outstanding that it’s hard for me to say who was my favorite, but having been a fan of Steven Yeun for many years, I’m elated with his nomination for Best Actor for his role in the movie.
When nomadic wanderlust becomes a way of life, what does it mean to maintain one’s independence?
In & Of Itself is described as “an intimate and powerful exploration of what it means to be and be seen,” which I would argue is at the core of love, in this case, self-love. Derek DelGaudio, the creator of this unique one-man show, seeks to find an answer to the question, “Who am I?” and manages to do so through a series of vignettes in which he recounts portions of his own life interspersed with segments of audience participation.
What I loved most about this viewing experience was how it made me feel, and let me tell you something, people are feeling themselves in this film. We’re brought into this world through the emotional pull of its characters as they permeate inside a West London house party one summer night in 1981.
Dialog heavy, full of firey social commentary and gender politics, not to mention what I would argue was the most forceful devouring of a bowl of mac and cheese that I’ve ever seen committed to film, this screenplay gave its viewer a lot to take in over the course of its nearly two hour run time. Some of it satisfying, some of it confusing, all of it, contentious.
This film cleverly marries its two central themes-the refugee-immigrant experience and the haunted house in a way that I found both exciting and unsettling, and immensely creative.
Travel
In January, I made plans for my first-ever visit to Japan's capital city. One of the standout experiences was a visit to the Mori Art Museum on the 53rd floor of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. An art museum in a skyscraper? Sign me up!
Kyoto has been a bucket-list destination for me since I can remember, so this break seemed like the perfect time to make the trip. I booked a three-day stay at a hostel close to the train station, and while I had some reservations—Would it be clean? Would it be safe? Would they speak English?—I put them aside with the hopes of having my first Japanese adventure.
Fiction
"Your number decides your fate," said Meredith, the leader of The Sisterhood. The six of us were positioned behind a long, banquet table covered with a jet-black, velvet tablecloth. In front of us were six plates, each with a thick slice of decadent chocolate cake.
There it was again. That damn sign. "Rest Stop, 1 Mile." He'd been driving for hours and hadn't seen a rest stop of any kind. No off-ramps or distant towns far as the eye could see, but there it was again. That goddamn sign.
