The month of May is designated as National Foster Care Month. To show appreciation and gratitude to foster parents across the country, a proclamation was issued in 1988 in recognition of National Foster Care Month. This year's theme is " Strengthening Minds. Uplifting Families."
April is Autism Awareness Month. Since 2021, The Autistic Self Advocacy Network has made April Autism Acceptance Month by stating that acceptance of autism as a natural condition in the human experience is necessary for real dialogue to occur. During this month, it isn't just important to spread awareness for people who have autism.
The month of April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and a time to reflect on this important issue and understand how we can recognize and support survivors. To begin, we need to define sexual assault. Sexual assault is when one person imposes or forces unwanted sexual behavior on another.
For a variety of reasons, women have historically been underpaid and treated differently in the workplace. The disparity between men and women cannot be justified by any of these reasons. Considering that men perceive women to be the weaker sex may explain why women are not paid the same as men.
