Hattie Butterworth is a writer, journalist and cellist working as the Editor of Opera Now and Choir & Organ magazines. Graduating from the Royal College of Music in 2020, Hattie began freelance investigative work within the arts, launching her podcast Things Musicians Don't Talk About and writing for publications such as Gramophone, Evening Standard and The Strad, as well as programme notes for English National Opera and liner note interviews for Decca Classics.
Since becoming Opera Now's Editor, Hattie has advocated for greater online content awareness within opera, bringing an understanding of SEO and supporting both young opera singers and writers. She has encouraged the inception of news features, reflecting on the opera world as it stands, as well as opinion columns, art and design features and a regular 'young artist' feature. Through editing Choir & Organ, she has established partnerships with the Three Choirs Festival and Trinity College Cambridge, as part of the Choir & Organ New Music scheme for emerging composers
