I am an experienced writer and journalist.

My commentary is in outlets including the BBC, Financial Times, The Telegraph, Forbes, and The Evening Standard.

Financial writing and market analysis is my bread and butter.

I’ve exposed mislabeled ‘green’ financial products, and money laundering in Canadian real estate. But I’m equally enthralled by all sorts of topics, from coffee supply chains to dwindling bird populations.

Gemma Boothroyd is a senior investment writer for the app, saying a massive focus is put on educating users, from investment guides to Q&As and how much cash to put in. She warned against "myopic views" - be it in January or throughout the year: "We hear about similar ideas about May or June trading being better because of the archaic idea that bankers are taking holidays. People think certain months are going to be better based on preconceived notions."

What's Next for Paddy Power?

Freetrade analyst Gemma Boothroyd said the pandemic "lent a helping hand to online betting, speeding up its transition to digital". She said US revenue growth, which soared by 159% to £652m, was "driven by six additional states legalising sports betting". "As vaccination ramps up and Flutter's main markets return to business-as-usual, it may be ill-prepared for lockdowns easing," Ms Boothroyd added.

Investors Are Getting 'Duped' by Loose ESG Labels

“If you’re looking to invest green, you’re probably filtering and searching for funds labeled ESG,” said Gemma Boothroyd, an analyst at Freetrade. While ESG funds screen out certain industries — such as arms and thermal coal — they do not necessarily have to exclude oil and gas, so long as companies in the sector are pursuing plans to reduce emissions. Boothroyd identified two exchange traded funds run by investment giant BlackRock that had fossil fuel holdings, for instance. An iShares...
