After 55 years serving Illinois Tollway riders along I-90 between Lee Street and Elmhurst Road, the Des Plaines Oasis closed for good on Sunday, Mar. 16. The tollway will eventually remove the oasis, spanning all six lanes over I-90, to make room for the addition of a fourth lane in each direction from O’Hare Airport to Elgin.

From a very young age, right around the time when electronics were something new, Meyer earned his amateur radio license.
